The Dougy Center

Silas died without explanation.  Our family overwhelmingly supports more medical research to help us understand why perfectly healthy babies stop breathing in their sleep.  However, we also understand the needs of grieving families.  The ability to talk to other grieving mothers and know that somehow you can keep walking after losing a child has helped me tremendously.  I have been volunteering at The Dougy Center and it is a wonderful organization that helps fill this need for families.

The Dougy Center, located in Portland, OR, provides support in a safe place where children, teens, young adults, and their families grieving a death can share their experiences.

They provide support and training locally, nationally and internationally to individuals and organizations seeking to assist children in grief. They are supported solely through private support from individuals, foundations and companies. The Dougy Center does not charge a fee for its services.
